Canon Eos 7D – Review

3916932032_55b259ba65_b

Hey, 4 weeks until christmas and I updated my Photo setup. Went from Nikon to Canon… Got my self the Canon Eos 7D, together with a prime lens, Sigma EX 30mm f1.4 and a wide-angle zoom lens Tokina PRO 16-55mm f2.8. Got a reflector with sunlight and white side. Also equipped the 7D with a battery grip and extra battery.

So why did i go from Nikon to Canon? First the ability to record 1080p video with so big variety when it comes to lenses, and second the price range, the 7D is from 1899$ and compared to the Nikon d300s the Canon seemed like the better option. Why not the Canon Eos 5D mark ll?! Well i like to shot action photography and the 5D does 3 bps… the 7D does 8. And that’s the only reason for me. i would love that big sexy 1:1 sensor in the 5D, but however I don’t work as a photographer and feel no need of a 1:1 camera.

VIDEO:
This is a little something I just tried out, first video i shot with the Canon 7D it’s in 720p and 50bps.

Verdict:
So after shooting with this beauty for a weekend, I feel like I’ve done a good decision. I might want to get one or two more lenses, but so far I enjoy the Sigma 30mm f1.4. The build of the 7D is great, as a High End consumer gadget, it’s just amazing, makes my Nikon d40 feel like plastic junk. You have so many add-ons on the Canon, if you shoot video you can build on with external mics, you can rig it on a shoulder mount. If you shoot studio the flash unit controls external flashes to, new for the 7D. The 18mpx APS sensor is great to, there are some noise trouble on the higher ISOs BIG BUT I don’t care, there is a little less noise in the 5D mark ll, but not enough to make me consider it instead.

Hope this was good reading.

Review on Inglorious Basterds

Hitler in Inglorious Basterds

So, I’m not a film critics, but I want to share what I think is the best film so far this year. My thoughts on Inglorious Basterds. Lets start of with Quentin Terantino, what a guy, right!? This film is so damn good that’s what you need to know about the cinematographer/director. Moving on.

Brad Bitt!? Again, what a friggin good actor, he does the southern accent like a genius, even when he is acting Italian. The brutalness in Quentin’s directory is done with the essence of humor, like all other Quentin films. I had no made up minds before I saw the film, and I love when thats the case, beacuse you will see the film for what it really is, art.

Brad Pitt in Inglorious Basterds

When it comes to angels, lenses, style of photography, thats all the aspects of wich Quentin is a genius in mastering the capture methods. I would go sa far down the road that I could say that he is this centurys best cinematographer. The vague intrest in moments and a BIG eye for details, that’s what makes Quentins films so interesting and diverse. Also the fact that everything he touches turns to cult. Enough said.

Inglorious Basterds

So from the audience view, what captures and binds you infront of the white screen for over 2 and a half hour?! Is it computer generated effects? Is it big hollywood producers? Is it avaiton fighting and big explosions?… No it’s the raw and bare details, of humans acting and taking on different roles. The chemical reactions in your brain causes you to laugh, jump in your seat, and maybe produce a tear or two. This is film history 101, humans will allways like the fact that we are just human. Live is fragile and weak, that is very clear in the film, Inglorious Basterds. over n out.

Verdict.

Review Sony Ericsson Xperia X1

I have had the opportunity to test Sony Ericsson’s forthcoming mobile phone Xperia X1 for a couple of days. Here’s my first views on this phone.

The first thing that strikes me when I got is was how small it was, Sure I had that it was small. But most often thats just talk. But in this case it was really true. If you look at what this phone contains, a full QWERT keyboard and still it is not greater than, for example the Sony Ericsson K850 or Nokia N82.

I have previously questioned the use of a qwerty keyboard & thought it was unnecessary and, above all very inflexible. But the more I used the X1, the more I liked to have access to the keyboard.

But what separates this phone compared with many others is that there are so many navigation options, you can use the keyboard to lots of things but then you have a touch screen and an optical mouse that makes you really easy to navigate quickly in the phone. You simply choose the approach that is best for the job you are doing in the phone. Moreover the phone feels very solid and well built.

Looking at the content we find Windows Mobile, an operating system that I’m not quite fond of and this is not because I am an “apple fan boy” (okay maybe a little). But the biggest reason is that I have always thought it to be very messy and small, hard to navigate simply. Fortunately, Sony Ericsson’s solved this largely with their appearance as the so called X panel. Which means that you can easily navigate between a number of panels or desktops, which then contains different things. For example a desktop that is made for browsing, one that is made for listening to music and so on.

The only disadvantages I can think of is maybe the format, if you have a big hands. Then it can possibly be a little difficult to use the keyboard, but I’m not sure. Then there is Windows Mobile, most often you only navigate through the X panels. But sometimes you encounter Windows in the background and then it just doesn’t look as fresh. But despite this, it is absolutely thumbs up for this phone.

Jack Johnson best selling male on iTunes store.

Jack Johnson was introduced by Steve Jobs as the best selling male artist on iTunes store ever. On my own behalf i can assure you that i’ve heard jacky several times this summer, over and over again.
Since he first released Bushfire Fairytales in 2001 he has given out 4 more albums and a row of good selling singles. Jack is a Hawaiian surfer dude and he has been out cruise’n waves since the age of 5 and played the guitar from age 14, it was first when he suffered from a surf accident that he really started going with the music. And when he studied at University of California, Santa Barbara Ben harper’s producer got his ears up for young Jack, and well that was the kick off on one of the best male artist’s out there right now.

Aliph Jawbone 2

There is only one bluetooth headset out there that will do it for you and it’s the Jawbone, and it just got better. The new Aliph Jawbone 2 ($130) is stunning 50 percent smaller than the original, and steps up the noise elimination with DARPA-approved NosieAssassin technology. It has new touch sensitive buttons, longer battery time (4 hours talk & 8 days standby!!) Great Design, better tech, smaller to the eye at the same price… SuperFamous!

Buy it here ($130)

Iron Man movie review

Finally the other day I got to see Iron Man a movie that I’ve been waiting for, for some time now. My expectations where fairly high as you guys might know. But Jon Favreau did not let me down thats for sure. This movie has all the great toys!

I’m a real fanboy when it comes to gadgets and this movie was heaven when it comes to that. All the toys you ever wanted and some you didn’t know you wanted is in this movie.

But that’s not all, when it comes to most comic adaption just add some effects and your done. But in this flick it’s so much more. There is some really great acting especially from Robert Downey Jr and Jeff Bridges. I was really amazed by them. Jeff Bridges is so cool in his thick beard even cooler than Santa.

When it comes to the story, hey it’s a super-hero movie. Its not a Tarantino story but on the super-hero shelf this is fighting at the top.

What about the effects well… They suck! just kidding the freaking rock! It’s like… where can a buy that suit, wonder if its expensive? The effects are for real you can’t tell the difference, and if you do and it bugs you. Well the I recommend you to look at something more real like Sergei M. Eisensteins Battleship Potemkin

But if your watching this flick just to have a good time and get blown away, then this movie will do just that!

Impressions of the Sigma DP1

Sigma DP1

The Sigma DP1 is an old school looking killer pocket camera, Actually its more of a dSLR in a compact body. It uses the same full-sized, 14 megapixel Foveon X3 image sensor found in Sigma’s SD14 dSLR, and its 16.6mm F4 lens is equivalent to a standard 28mm offering. Providing low distortion, high contrast images, in other words it rock! Said Karlsson is a photographer who at the moment lives in Tokyo and is a happy owner of the DP1. His written a really great “review” of the camera, Check it out here.
