Happy birthday, Mini! It seems astonishing to say it – you are 50 years old. But like many an ageing celebrity there is some doubt about when you actually first came into the world.
It could have been in July 1957 when your creator, Alec Issigonis, thrashed the very first prototype around the British Motor Corporation’s factory at Longbridge, Birmingham – and his boss, the gruff Sir Leonard Lord, barked: “Build the bloody thing!”

Good morning everybody and welcome to a new week of great and funny new things to read about. I wanted to start off with a minor a-ha thing, the olympics is over, but there where some amazing PR going on when they where on full throttle. For example Mini had chopped up over 50 Mini Coopers and turned classic chinese street transport Rickshaws in to the 21th century. This is really a sign on clever and genuine creative thinking on promoting a product. We want to give all those people that worked on this campaign the thumbs up!
