Narrow Home in Antwerpen

This is the house in a narrow street in the Center of Antwerpen (Belgium), rear facade facing south. Together with Joep Debie they form CSD Archtecten, so they designed and build their own home themselves. The house is very small, is only 50 sqm (4 x 12.5 meters). The house has a basement, ground floor, 4 split-levels and a roof terrace. The split-levels bring the light from the south through the house. They really optimized every room and also designed the kitchen, library, wardrobes etc.

We like that they haved used the ground floor as a garage, if you don’t have a parking lot, why not take one of your floors and turn it into a parking space.

Do you like to write about architecture, do you like us here to change a bit in the design and make it more 2010? And why not make a better design? Have any ideas or just a comment, write in the comments or send me an email, linus@kreativt.se.

Wood Block Residence by Chadbourne and Doss Architects

From the architects Chadbourne + Doss Architects

Located on the west side of Mercer Island, Washington, this house is a reconstruction of one of iconic Seattle architect Fred Bassetti’s earliest designs built in 1962. Fronting a busy street, we wanted to root the house to its sloping wooded site and provide a protective shelter for family life. The plan is opened up allowing for large family gathering spaces and perspectives throughout the full length of the house. A new metal skin with interior cedar liner wraps over the roof and grounds the house to the site. An aluminum bar grating screen encloses an exterior patio and deck filtering interior views and forming a sparkling and diaphanous wall from the street. The entry approach is redesigned with a cantilevered concrete landing in a sunken courtyard and a 4’ x 11’ pivot door to the interior. Bathing spaces are ethereally bright, smooth and seamless. Materials throughout are natural but installed and crafted in an extremely crisp manner.

Clocktower Broklyn.

Clocktower in Broklyn.

Look at this apartment that just went on the market! The New York Times takes us inside the triplex penthouse of Brooklyn’s ClockTower Building — where the most striking features are the four 14′ clocks housed in gigantic round windows.

The DUMBO building was built by a cardboard box manufacturer and renovated by DUMBO developer David Walentas. The approximately 600 square meter apartment is on the market for $25 million (170 000 000 SEK) — “more than double the highest price known to have been paid for a home in Brooklyn.”

In addition to the clocks and amazing views, the triplex features 16 foot ceilings on the main level and central glass elevator and floating staircase!

Ford Times—Future Home 1959

Well those images from the late 1950′s are just so very modern today, 50 years later, we are on the burst of GEO engineering technology breakthrough. And the world have never been this much involved in the environment issues.

So car manufacturers around the world, hear our cry for newer technologies, and zero emissions by the year of 2020.

Charles Harper painted homes designed by Rudy Hermes as photomontage backdrops to introduce the 1960 Fords in November 1959’s Ford Times magazine… ‘the ultimate in prefabrication since it has no footings or foundation.’”

I need to share this beautiful house with you, the house is located on Ireland. We like Ireland, and we love Dublin, a lot of music history has been written there. I want to believe that art and architecture knows no boundaries. And location dose not really matter, as long as the locations it self is beautiful or the item, house, art installation or whatever. We want people to make art not war, so if you like these photos, click here for more.

The Shell House, Architectural Love at First Sight

I just want to start of with that there are a bunch of images attached to this post, why? well i wanted to make sure that you got the same feeling for this house as i got. You never know how many of you that click on links or reads the “full story”. So i give you The Shell House placed in the middle of the Japanese pine forest, this is very none traditional Japanese architecture.

However i really like this house, the lines, the bends, the abstract curves… I hope you will enjoy it as much as i did.

Tonight i we will also give out the name of the new Daily Spotify Competition Winner!!!!

Japanese Concrete Architecture

I love raw materials such as concrete, steel, stone mixed with glass and green solutions.

This is very traditional Japanese, you have a rather small living area of 102 m2, and a total building space of 85 m2. This is typical in Japan where there is not a lot of space for generous houses or apartments.

Some words from the Architects;
This house consists of box-space and roof-space. There are two bedrooms and bathroom in box-space, and there is storage (23.5 square meters) in an underground story. In roof-space, there are the entrance, kitchen and living room. The living room continues with the nature through an outside terrace.

The ground floor is space like the one-room of 78.5 square meters. In order to articulate this small space more attractively, box-space and roof-space are connected carefully.

The house from Woody Allen’s Sleeper… Living in a sculpture

Woody Allen’s “Sleeper” (1973) had such elaborate sets and costumes that the film ran behind schedule and came in over budget, even though the final cost was still only $2 million. (more photos)

And today’s modern architecture, a villa in Almere, the Netherlands.

A just like the simplicity of this house, maybe a bit to minimalism for me but i like it.

The basic design is largely defined by the latitude enabled by the Dutch Building Decree. The maximum volume allowed on the particular location is 500 m³, while the residence plus office required 750 m³. Nowadays the Building Decree creates the opportunity to build up to 2.5 metres outside an external wall, without submitting a planning application under the condition that it does not border a public street or public park.
