Canon EOS 550D known as Rebel T2i

This is the new DSLR from Canon, the EOS 550D or Rebel T2i as it’s know as in the US. This is the update on the best selling EOS 500D. And it got some nice new features.

Facts: 18.7 megapixels, 3.7 BPS (full resolution), ISO 100-6400. It records video in 1080p in 24 / 25 / 30 fps or 720p with 50 or 60 fps.
One cool feature is the connection for external stereo microphone and a bonus is the new wider display on the back. The 550D will be available in March and the price is due to 900$ with a kit lens (EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS.).

Canon Eos 7D – Review

Hey, 4 weeks until christmas and I updated my Photo setup. Went from Nikon to Canon… Got my self the Canon Eos 7D, together with a prime lens, Sigma EX 30mm f1.4 and a wide-angle zoom lens Tokina PRO 16-55mm f2.8. Got a reflector with sunlight and white side. Also equipped the 7D with a battery grip and extra battery.

So why did i go from Nikon to Canon? First the ability to record 1080p video with so big variety when it comes to lenses, and second the price range, the 7D is from 1899$ and compared to the Nikon d300s the Canon seemed like the better option. Why not the Canon Eos 5D mark ll?! Well i like to shot action photography and the 5D does 3 bps… the 7D does 8. And that’s the only reason for me. i would love that big sexy 1:1 sensor in the 5D, but however I don’t work as a photographer and feel no need of a 1:1 camera.

VIDEO:
This is a little something I just tried out, first video i shot with the Canon 7D it’s in 720p and 50bps.

Verdict:
So after shooting with this beauty for a weekend, I feel like I’ve done a good decision. I might want to get one or two more lenses, but so far I enjoy the Sigma 30mm f1.4. The build of the 7D is great, as a High End consumer gadget, it’s just amazing, makes my Nikon d40 feel like plastic junk. You have so many add-ons on the Canon, if you shoot video you can build on with external mics, you can rig it on a shoulder mount. If you shoot studio the flash unit controls external flashes to, new for the 7D. The 18mpx APS sensor is great to, there are some noise trouble on the higher ISOs BIG BUT I don’t care, there is a little less noise in the 5D mark ll, but not enough to make me consider it instead.

Hope this was good reading.

Canon EOS 1D Mark IV

canon-eos-1d-mark-iv

Pro photographers have an even more difficult choice to face when going with Canon or Nikon thanks to the new Canon EOS 1D Mark IV ($5,000). Like the recently announced Nikon D3s, the Mark IV sports a maximum ISO of 102,400 and HD video recording — in full 1080p, unlike the 720p-limited Nikon — and also packs a 45-point autofocus sensor, dual DIGIC 4 imaging processors!!, a 16.1 megapixel CMOS sensor (not Fullformat), 10 fps shooting, a three-inch LCD, and more…

Dissected lens, this is what you get

So if you dissect your old cannon lens you’ll end up with something similar like this. When the lens stopped to work, young photographer here decided to take it apart he ended up with a bunch of rings, wires and other camera stuff. Check out album here

Art By Jakob Westman & Canon PIXMA MP610

Well to start off this evening i bought my self a printer/scanner/copier and the first thing i tried out was to scan a picture in one of the books in my stash. The images is from the book Color Blast by Jakob Westman. I got this book ages ago, back in 2004 when actually christian who i run this blog with bought two copies. But i just love Jakobs work, he is a very talented designer and if we get the possibility to do an interview with him we will defiantly post it here.

So the multi-printer i got for this work is the Canon PIXMA MP610 this is my first printer ever so i hope that i will enjoy it and find it useful. I know i will be scanning a lot of stuff!

Canon EOS 50D

So i use a dSLR camera almost on a daily bases, and i role with a Nikon D40, for me a Nikon has been the one and only choice and i think thats still the case. But today Canon took a step forward in the dSLR arms race by announcing the EOS 50D. The 15-megapixel prosumer model is the company’s first to sport the new DIGIC 4 processor, promising features like peripheral illumination correction, ISO sensitivity of up to 12,800!!!!, a 3-inch, 920,000 dot LCD, Live View (thats when you use the LCD as a view finder), a self-cleaning system, and loads of more features.

(The prize is on release 1.400$, October 2008) and in Europe it will go for something like 1.450€ thats just the camera without any lens. Well the goodies did not stop there, they also released a new EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens for just 700$ or yes you guessed right 750€ (Way more expensive in Europe) So get both and start your photo career today.
