Why I Love old Analog stuff.

Okey lets face it the new digital world is so rock and roll, we are no longer bound to analog items and everything can be fixed with a software update. I like it, but i also like the old school analog hard rocking radios, mixers, commodore 64 and so on. So then you might wonder, why does this guy like all the analog big stuff. A simple reason, the feeling of that little touch you give to a button and the lights turn on and the speaker starts to make noise, and you turn that big wheel and the radio starts to search for the right frequency.

All the small details they did way back, the Braun radio above is just a design master pice. Look at the back lighting, the design, the buttons, and even the typography is sleek. Ohh but thats the same as if it was an image on a hugh touch screen… Easy answer, NO WAY IN HELL IT IS!

I just got an old Saba Automatic using it as a TV shelf in the bedroom. And It’s so awesome, not as timeless in the design as Braun things are but still a master pice of Analog experiences.

Byroglyphics™ (Russ Mills)

Byroglyphics is the Online gallery for UK Digital Artist/Illustrator RUSS MILLS. His work is a hybrid of traditional media and digital imaging, focusing on human idiosyncrasies both physical and emotional resulting in distorted forms both subtle and extreme.

In many ways i find artist like this very interesting and well there is nothing different in this case. Russ Mills is a true artist, i mean there are not a lot of them hard core analog/digital artist out there. Now days everything is made out in photoshop brushes and vectorized illustrator paths. I heard a thing the other day, from a student over at Hyper Island that there are a lot of people in his class, that are HARD CORE ANALOG, yes correct people with absolutely ZERO computer usage but still very creative designers & artists.

Maybe it’s a trend, away of being these days, the more retro you go the bigger hype you build, its like if you have an iPhone (like me) your just a dude trying to be cool, but if you use the 1G iPod your the hypest kid on the block. (I’m gonna pull out my old ipod suffle) thats how cool i can be, maybe try to find an old trucker hat on the attic to.
