Olive is the first full length feature film shot completely on a smart phone. A 35 mm lens adapter was fabricated to fit the smart phone in order to achieve a shallow depth of field. The film stars two time Academy Award nominated actress Gena Rowlands (the Notebook, A Woman Under the Influence, Gloria). The film simply put is about a little girl that goes into the lives of three people — an old lonely woman, a foreigner having a hard time acclimating in the United States, and an obese man — and transforms their lives without saying one word!

The financing of Olive was done independently of any corporation. The goal now is to be the first film to not only be shot on a cell phone but to also be the first independently financed feature film on 2,000+ theaters across the United States without the backing of a Major Studio.

The Film also stars John Scurti, Chris Maher, and Ruby Alexander. Other names affiliated with the project include Ben Lear, Randi Zuckerberg, and Skywalker Sound did the sound design.

A couple of months ago Me and a friend started http://copygr.am a great service that lets you enjoy Instagram on your computer or iPad. My friend also runs the blog http://www.thecubetheory.com – and we also started http://danjan.se

So what are we doing right now? Well we are planning our move on version 2 of Copygram, it’s going to be awesome. We are also working some state of the art concepts for new online services.

Bare with me… I don’t know where we are going but I know one thing, I’ll always love design, architecture, music, videos, photography and cultural awareness.

So we just launched an awesome site for the iPhone App Instagram, we call it Copygram. The service lets you download all your Instagram photos to your local hardrive and then makes it really easy for you to order analog prints. What many haven’t noticed is that Copygram also provides an view over the entire public network of Instagram, just type any username after the http://copygr.am and you can view his or hers photos, just try out mine copygr.am/linusekenstam now try your own.

In the first 6 days a total of 106.000 photos have been downloaded. And way over 28.000 pageviews. We are so happy for making this project into reality. In an attempt to give everyone a chance and glimps of the Instagram community we wanted to build a way for everyone to be able to see what users on the instagram network are doing. So now you can share your copygram link to anyone, and anyone will be able to view your photos, with our without an Instagram account. To be able to find stuff, we built a search, you can search for users and tags.

We hope you’ll enjoy the service, its me ( Linus Ekenstam ) and TheCubeTheory ( Magnus Janson ) that is behind the project.

In downtown San Francisco earlier this morning, Intel gathered journalists for its “most significant technology announcement of the year.” The news? Intel’s 22-nm manufacturing process will be the first to employ 3D tri-gate transistors, resulting in substantial power savings and performance increases. Not only that, but we’ll be seeing the fruits of Intel’s labor next year with Ivy Bridge, the successor to Sandy Bridge, which will be based on the new transistor type. (Ivy Bridge was demoed running inside three different PCs at the event.)

Just spent 30 days in Costa Rica, both the Caribbean Cost and the Pacific Coast. Loved the atmosphere the people and water. It’s a shame that it’s a 30 hour trip for me.
I’ve just stumbled over this film made by Ross Mclennan & Marty Schenk. It’s about Memmo Baleeira in Sagres, Portugal. Part of the global network over at www.designhotels.com Makes me so badly wanna go there and surf and hang out with wonderful friends.

We’ll some of you might already know that we love concrete here at WASF, this is not an exception. The building has a beautiful stretched x-shape and is drawn by Icelandic architect firm Arkís.

So next year, why not plan a trip to Iceland and Vatnajökull, it’s vast 8100 km² stretches over 8% of the land.

We will be away for a month… planning on change, and new things for the site, we want to keep it simple, but as all companies we want to grow, be able to share more great things and maybe we can inspire others to be more than good, to be exceptional, aim for perfection. Allandale House is an A-frame(s) house for an idiosyncratic connoisseur and her family. Along with its occupants, the Allandale House also provides space for an eccentric collection of artifacts that resist straightforward classification. Wines, rare books, stuffed birds and an elk mount are among the relics on display in this small vacation house.
The house links three horizontal extrusions of “leaning,” or asymmetrical A-frames. The skinny A-frame on the western side contains the library, wine cellar and garage. The wide A-frame in the center of the house is dedicated to two floors of bedrooms and bathrooms. The medium A-frame on the eastern side consists of living, kitchen and dining areas. The house aims to undermine the seeming limitations of a triangular section by augmenting and revealing the extreme proportion in the vertical direction, and utilizing the acutely angled corners meeting the floor as moments for thickened walls, telescopic apertures and built-in storage.

So, what is happening on the Internet? Everything has turned very social media(ish) really fast. First, take a second, lean back, if you are on an iPad, are you comfortable? Thing’s weren’t like this 5 years ago… We did not have youtube or HTML5 ready websites that works beautiful on iPhones and Android phones. And what happens next? Are we ready for things to come, when people like those in France, that takes the dullness of social media surfing on Facebook to the next level, “apéro-géant” party’s allover France, thousands of people showing up, meeting other people from Facebook, this is just what the old and dull people said not would happen with technology. People would instead be sitting inside, drinking coke and play video games, of course we have that clientele but we also have murders and sociopaths?! don’t we?

I love the Internet, because this is possible with Internet, me writing to you about the speed of tech, and people taking back the soul purpose, socializing and making it a rich experience with help from technology and gadgets. Just like the iPresident (yes Barack Obama) kids allover the globe uses iPods, Youtube and Facebook. This was not normal 5 years ago. Morse law might not continue to accelerate the numbers of resistors in processors, however the usage and intensity on the Internet won’t slow down.

So is this bad or good for us?! By us i mean mankind, we can build amazing stuff, we can draw beautiful sketches and paint the most wonderful paintings. We are a creative breed, the non-humor side of it is, that we are also the most deconstructive living embolism on earth. We kill, plunder, rape and conduct wars that hurt in millions of human lives. We are at constant war against terrorism, cultures and religions.

So is this Internet something that we can unite in or shall this to shred us apart. In Europe we got ACTA, they simply want to stop piracy, and if you read into it, they want to stop individuality on the Internet as we know it. There are a thousand ways of looking at this, we can love it, hate it, live with it or destroy it. I’ve learned to live in symbiosis with it, I can’t really live without it, and I don’t want it to consume more of my life that it already does.

The photo above, shot by a young talented photographer from Sweden, Oskar Bakke somewhat speaks to me, it’s like the internet, in the left, we got the light and bright future where we all take advantage of the simplicity and goodness the internet can provide us with. In the right however is the dark, clouded part, the part where US Army send drone orders to UAV’s to murder innocent people, part of this information is transferred via the Internet. I however see the vehicle as us, mankind, driving really fast, like surreal fast, on an endless jet strip, in one of the fastest moving things on earth, away from that dark era, into a brighter future, with zero carbon footprints and a lifestyle that are not fixed on war and economic crisis, nor religion battles instead we are looking on quality in life, versatile urban living, diverse cultural experiences, across border knowledge bases and eco friendly solutions in every aspect of life.

This is a lot of words, but just fractions of whats inside my head, what are your thoughts on todays Internet and worldwide crises? Comment, write me an email, what ever suits you.

While Apple may tinker with the final packaging and design of the final phone, it’s clear that the features in this lost-and-found next-generation iPhone are drastically new and drastically different from what came before. Here’s the detailed list of our findings:

What’s new
• Front-facing video chat camera
• Improved regular back-camera (the lens is quite noticeably larger than the iPhone 3GS)
• Camera flash
• Micro-SIM instead of standard SIM (like the iPad)
• Improved display. It’s unclear if it’s the 960×640 display thrown around before—it certainly looks like it, with the “Connect to iTunes” screen displaying much higher resolution than on a 3GS.
• What looks to be a secondary mic for noise cancellation, at the top, next to the headphone jack
• Split buttons for volume
• Power, mute, and volume buttons are all metallic

What’s changed
• The back is entirely flat, made of either glass (more likely) or ceramic or shiny plastic in order for the cell signal to poke through. Tapping on the back makes a more hollow and higher pitched sound compared to tapping on the glass on the front/screen, but that could just be the orientation of components inside making for a different sound
• An aluminum border going completely around the outside
• Slightly smaller screen than the 3GS (but seemingly higher resolution)
• Everything is more squared off
• 3 grams heavier
• 16% Larger battery
• Internals components are shrunken, miniaturized and reduced to make room for the larger battery

The brief for this house was quite simple: “I want a 9 car garage and be able to enjoy viewing one of them in the living room.” Takuya Tsuchida designed exactly such a house, it has an elevator for one car from the garage to the living room. I can totally understand the owner of a Lamborghini Countach Anniversary edition, to make such a request. I guess it’s no surprise that can find this house in Tokyo.

This is a house to be built in Tokyo, for a movie producer couple.

This architecture is consisted by combining L-shaped blocks of reinforced concrete and sequential frames of box-shaped engineer-wood. We put bedrooms, film archive and galley in solid concrete part for security, and living room in engineer-wood part for openness. As material that consist an open space that is 6m in height, 5.5m in width, 14m in depth, we choose thin engineer-wood (38mmx287mm).

Main theme for this architecture is to bring out a sense of mass and material, which were denied by modern architecture which pursued “white, flat wall” as a style. We intentionally left the wood grain of mold on the surface of concrete, and choose textured stones and irons.

It goes without saying that a house is a relaxing place. A house like a white-cube, surrounded by flat, white walls everywhere, gives a person very abstract image. But that image could only be sensed when we use intellective part of our brain. The problem is that we’re not all-intellective-creature. For the people like this client, who do enough intellectual labor on a daily basis, white-cube would only bring sense of fatigue. The role of architecture, especially the ones for living, is to soothe the sensory side of people, not to stimulate the intellectual side.
