So in the future of aviation we will see changes, first we see changes in numbers of travelers then we will see a change in the fuel usage, and new ways of powering airplanes (with things as sustainable as humanly possible). The Boeing/NASA X-48b as seen on the big picture is one of those future features that are just radical and unbelievable to the eye. This is a model of a futuristic humanoid robot that are supposed to rescue people in distress across the globe. This is pure gadget love and i can admit that I’m a softy when it comes to robots.

So i would say i wish this was real, and also if it was this is most certainly a project that i want to be on. The small (not that small) model is made out of astonishing 600 + pieces and the whole concept took over 6 months to complete.

I sure as hell loved Iron Man, and i think that we will see in a time span of 20 - 30 years robots like this developed and being shipped. So i’ll try to hang in there as long as i can. - Linus

So a couple of days ago i posted a video with the flying suite and i sure did mention the the flying wing. I think Gizmodo wrote something like, we are not going see this in a year or two, like 1 week ago, but however yesterday in switzerland, Yves Rossy made the first flight with a wing power by 4 jet engines with a 50 pound thrust each, pushing him up to speeds like 186 Mph, there is nothing to control the wing except the throttle, so he steers completely by shifting his body weight. And he flew for a good old 6 minutes (horizontally) and even had the climbing possibilities of a 1000 feet per minute, Redicilous!

Designer Ben Wilson has produced a monowheel - a cycle where the rider sits inside a large, spokeless wheel. This is a ride of the future, imagine this thing with a plasma engine, some nice computer based balance software (kinda like the Segway). The bike was created for the XX1st Century Man Exhibition at the 21-21 Design Sight. Ben say’s “We don’’t suggest for one moment that a functioning human powered monowheel could ever provide an improvement on the modern bicycle. Instead its value comes from the discourse and ideas generated as a result of this research.”

The SR-71 Blackbird is still the world record holder in flight air speed. This is accepted by Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI). The record is from 1976 and still stands astonishing 3530 km/h, over Mach 3.2+. This at an altitude of 80 000 feet! There are other aircrafts that have travelled in much higher speeds, but they don’t fit in the criterias, for example the Boeing X-43a at 11 270!! km/h (7000 mph) or Mach 10+ yes 10 times the speed of sound! But we are here to salute the SR-71 Blackbird and we do it with honor!

The japanese company have given us HAL (Hybrid Assistive Limb), which is an exo robotic skeleton that via bio heathed signals from your skin can sense in what way you are moving and doing and strengthening it by x10 times!! Witch means if you usually lift 100 kilos from the ground, and you put the suite on 90% you can lift 1 ton! imagine what this can do for people in wheelchairs and other handicaps.
