PRE Nike+iPod “Puma RS Computer Shoe Pedometers”

This is way before Nike +iPod these Puma running shoes were affixed with a sort of pedometer computer. The pedometer could be reset and it worked in a way where it counted up time and distance. All the information could then be downloaded to the game port on the Apple II.

This is so before its time that it’s just stunning, i mean in the mid 80s we had nerd watches with calculators and we had the birth of PC’s and MAC’s but a small pedometer Puma shoe is just extraordinary.

Allan Lundell used these shoes in Santa Cruz, California in the mid 1980s. His words where something like “nothing could get people’s attention more than bending down and pushing a button on your shoes and hearing them beep, the definitive nerd”
